Mystery boy identified as six-year-old Camden Pierce Hughes

A mother has allegedly admitted destroying her son after the dead boy’s body was found on a dirt road, it was revealed today.

Julianne McCrery, of Irving, Texas, allegedly told a female trooper: ‘Idestroyed my son. I want todestroy myself’ - after six-year-old Camden Pierce Hughes was found dead in Maine.

It is thought the boy died from suffocation. A telephone tip led authorities to the woman at a highway rest stop in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.


McCrery was taken to hospital for a medical evaluation and she is being questioned by authorities. A source said she was in a vehicle reading a Bible when arrested.

Before her arraignment at Concord District Court today McCrery's lawyer said the mother may have come to New England todestroy her son and commit [rip].

McCrery 'loves her son. He’s dead. He’s in heaven. She wants to be with him,' George Murphy told the Boston Globe. 'She said over and over again I want to go to heaven.'

He added that McCrery has tried todestroy herself at least three times before, by overdosing on drugs, carbon monoxide exhaust from a car, and eating castor beans.

He said that he had spoken to McCrery twice, once last night and once this morning. 'I don’t think she has much to hide,' he said.

It had been reported that she told police she accidentally gave her son too much cough syrup, but Mr Murphy said: 'That’s news to me.'

McCrery was charged with second-degree destroy and being a fugitive from justice, according to the Boston Globe. Her son's body was found in Maine near the state line with New Hampshire.
