An 18-year-old Waffle House worker was busted after "pocket-dialing" a 911 emergency operator in the middle of a Georgia drug deal, authorities said.
"This is a first for me for an arrest like that," Hall County Sheriff's spokesman Col. Jeff Strickland told the Gainesville Times. "For us to record a drug transaction as it transpires, that's a first."
The county's 911 line received a 1:30 a.m. call, with the operator answering Wednesday only to hear several people discussing a prescription narcotics deal, Strickland said.
A deputy was sent to the all-night eatery in South Hall, Ga., where the dispatcher listened in as he interviewed employees.
When the deputy began questioning Daniel Moore, 18, the dispatcher radioed with word that he was the person with the cell phone.
Moore pulled the phone from his pocket, only to see the accidental call to 911, Strickland said. He was charged with possession of hydrocodone and alprazolam pills and held in the county lockup.
