Detroit— A Detroit police officer has been suspended after fellow officers allegedly caught him in a squad car having sex with a transvestite prostitute while on duty.
The officer, from the Northeast District, picked up the prostitute two weeks ago and parked his squad car near district headquarters, police said.
When fellow officers drove by, they saw his car and went to investigate, police said, where they caught the pair.
"He's suspended with pay, and it's my understanding the chief will file paperwork to have him suspended without pay," said the Rev. Jerome Warfield, chairman of the Detroit Board of Police Commissioners.
The News is withholding the officer's name pending the investigation.
